Your Man’s New Favorite Cocktail

Ever since I can remember, my husband has ordered a Gin and Tonic. It’s the first beverage he ordered when we started dating. I think I may have ordered it once, but I was 25, so what did I know about gin? Here’s a key detail: not all gins are created equal.

It took a trip to Portugal to discover what would become my husband’s favorite cocktail. We were at the bar, waiting for our flight, when he asked the bartender for a gin and tonic. My husband began to watch the bartender with great interest as she created a beautiful-looking beverage. He had never seen a gin and tonic with juniper berries, cloves, and cinnamon.

The bartender explained to him that in Portugal, you are required to go to bartending school and learn the art of alcoholic beverages. That you must use good liquor, in this case, good gin. She suggests using Foxtail Gin and taking your time. You can find the recipe down below.

How good is this recipe? Well, let’s just say my husband got lost in it. When we got home, he bought every ingredient, and now I make it for him when he feels he wants a taste of Portugal.
