On our road trip to Washington, North Carolina, this summer, we stopped at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Asheville, North Carolina, for the night.
My husband managed to upgrade us to a suite, and it was incredibly peaceful. The room gave off such a tranquil vibe that it was hard to leave. We were able to make reservations for dinner, which was conveniently located downstairs. The Red Stag Grill was highly recommended on TripAdvisor, and since we were literally right there, we opted to give it a try.
Now, the Red Stag Grill is known for its game on the menu, such as elk. (Gulp) If that’s your thing, maybe give this place a try. I don’t like gamey food, so it was a hard pass for me. We started off with our usual round of Old Fashioned cocktails.

Followed by our appetizers:

The Bohemian hunt board was a lot of fun to eat and was full of so many combinations, offering a different bite each time. I will always try the crab cakes on every menu. The crab cakes were excellent as they did not skimp out on the crab meat.
When it came to the mains, I couldn’t choose as everything they had on the menu seemed “wild”, so after much internal deliberation, I went with the “safest” option and ordered the ribeye. My husband chose something he had never tried before, the trout.

You can’t go wrong with the ribeye; it was perfect. If you enjoy trout, you might appreciate the way it’s prepared here. My husband had never had it and found it to be too bony a fish. The flavor was there, but I found it a little boring myself (after my steak, haha).
When it came to sides, we chose to try their turnips and carrots, and a side of asparagus. I don’t even eat turnips, as a matter of fact, I kind of turn my nose up at them, but wow. They are a must-try. I still think about them to this day. As for the asparagus, I always enjoy them. You can never go wrong with choosing them.

It was time for dessert. They had creme brulee and a brownie sundae on the menu. Need I say more? Wait for it…

Dessert was… ok. It wasn’t anything spectacular. I love creme brulee, so I get really disappointed when it doesn’t meet my expectations. What was wrong with it? The shell was a little too “toasted” to put it kindly. As for the brownie sundae, it also fell short. The texture was off, but the ice cream on top was good.
We definitely enjoyed our dinner at the Red Stag Grill and would like to go back for round two in the future. We rate the overall experience 9/10 and our chosen menu items 8/10.
I love you, till next time.
