My first time was in middle school. I don’t even know how it happened, really. I was at my local library and I was browsing the aisles. I was in the adult section amongst the biographies, autobiographies, and travel and history books. I had been reading adult books since I was in 4th grade, since I consumed every book in the children’s section at my school.
I won’t ever forget it. It was the title that got my attention: All The Queen’s Men by Linda Howard. I’m all into strong female leads, so I was like, yeah! This looked like it would be about a queen ruling over men. So I checked it out. I was in for a big surprise. It was a very lovely surprise.
I opened that book up and didn’t put it down till I finished it. Once I realized what I was reading, I felt a little exposed, haha. I stayed in my room all day and even missed dinner. It wasn’t unusual for me to disappear into my room all day since I read all the time. This time, though, I was learning a lot about a lot and about myself, if you catch my drift.
It was my first erotic romance novel, and I was hooked from that point. I went back to the public library and checked out three more of her books. If you like reading erotic romance novels, check her out. Her writing is incredible, and her books are ones you can’t put down.
It’s been a while since I read this genre of fiction, but since I am currently writing a romance novel, maybe I should check out her newer additions for some inspo. If you all have any book recommendations, let me know.
